Confidence is one of the most important traits to have in life. It is what sets you apart from other people and it makes you feel like you can take on any challenge. Being confident in yourself is not only about personal success, but personal well being.

While it is true that those with high levels of confidence are more successful, they also experience higher levels of satisfaction, self love and overall happiness. You truly can love yourself and be confident.

Natural confidence is evident immediately, and can draw people towards you. While over confidence can be considered rude and excessive, the appropriate level is never a bad accessory to any project, task, or date you may be involved with.

How to Love Yourself and Be Confident

While confidence may be natural to some, it can be a struggle for others. For those who may be introverted, have low self esteem, or have experienced intense criticism it can be hard to build up a shattered feeling of self worth.

Keep in mind that confidence is not something that you can just get from a bottle or pill. It is not something that you can buy.

Confidence is something that you have to work on and nurture every day.

There are many ways, however, to bring back a more improved, more confident self.

Set Realistic Expectations for Yourself

It’s important not to set too high of expectations for yourself because then, if you don’t meet them, it’ll just make you feel worse about yourself than before.

Instead, focus on setting reasonable goals for yourself that are achievable so that when they’re met, it feels like a big accomplishment for your self

We all have a little voice in our head that says, “You’re not good enough.” This voice can be very destructive and stop us from achieving our goals.

The best way to silence this negative voice is by replacing it with a positive one.

The key to confidence is to start small.

Make a conscious effort to be more confident in your abilities, and give yourself time to grow into the role. When you start with the basics, it becomes easier and more automatic to take on more challenges.

Overcome the Fear of Failure

Another key to confidence is knowing you will succeed in your endeavors.

Even the slightest bit of doubt can kill even the most grounded goals.

Many can agree that being successful in a task naturally boosts confidence in their actions, but how does one obtain that before ever starting?

Simple, they must let go of their fear of failure.

People with confidence know that they can achieve their goals, no matter the circumstance.

They have a realistic view of themselves and don’t let others’ opinions dictate their worth.

When something is important to someone, they will put in the extra effort to make it happen.

Confidence is not something that comes easy.

It takes time, effort, and perseverance to achieve it.

Remember, you are not alone on this journey and there are people who have been there before you.

While a natural level of anxiety will likely follow large and important projects, it is important to have faith in your skills and talents.

By telling yourself you will be successful, you are more likely to succeed, thus creating more confidence.

Do Something You Are Good At

While the best advice would be to go in to a field of work one excels at, it is not always possible.

However, a level of satisfaction in one’s work can still be achieved on a daily basis simply by engaging in activities one is already confident about.

When we focus on our strengths, we feel better about ourselves and we become more confident in ourselves as well as others around us.

Say you are an excellent painter and it makes you happy to do it. When you are feeling down or insecure about job performance, family issues, or relationship dilemmas, go ahead and paint something!

The joy of doing something you love, combined with the knowledge that you are talented at it, will increase your confidence towards other tasks.

Do What Makes You Feel Good About Yourself

Try to notice of the things that make you feel good about yourself instead of dwelling on the negatives.

In order to love yourself and be confident, start by doing a self assessment.

What are the things about yourself that make you feel good?

What are the things about yourself that make you feel bad?

Once you know what makes you feel good, do more of those things!

If you enjoy working out, try to find ways to work out that fit into your schedule.

If you like writing, try to find time to write every day.

If you are good at cooking, try to cook a new dish every week.

To love yourself, it’s important to look at the things that make you happy and to do them often. You should take time for yourself and do things that make you feel good about who you are.

Finding things that make you happy and putting effort into doing them will help boost your confidence and improve your overall mood.

Surround Yourself With Confident People

Personality can be contagious. Whether the crowd is full of insecure pessimists or confident optimists, it is true that the attitudes of those you surround yourself with can have a positive – or negative – impact on how you view yourself.

By making sure that your coworkers, friends and even family are positive, confident people can set you up for your own personal success.

Make it a habit to talk to people who have accomplished things you want to achieve. This will give you better insight and more confidence you are headed in the right direction.

Love Yourself First and Confidence Will Follow

It takes time and effort to be confident, but it’s worth it in the end.

You have to believe in yourself and love yourself before anyone else will believe in you and love you back.

Things to remember:

  • Recognize that confidence is not just about personal success, but personal well being.
  • Remember that confidence comes from within, not from external factors.
  • Be patient, and don’t expect instant results.
  • Persevere, and keep working towards your goals even when you don’t feel like it.
  • Believe in yourself, and work to develop a more positive view of yourself.

Confidence is the thing that makes you feel good about yourself and can help you be more successful in your life.

It is a skill that can be learned, practiced and strengthened.

It doesn’t matter what other people think of you or how confident they are. What matters is how confident you are in yourself and how self-loving you are.
